Penelope lives in the middle of nowhere 1898. She has been completely on her own since her husband died a year ago. She decides to leave and go to town where she can actually talk to someone...anyone. On the way into town she sees a man lying face down in some tall grass. When she discovers she's alive she decides to take him back home to nurse him back to health. This is how her and Cole meet and fall in love. If I tell you anymore then there really will be no reason to read the book because I'll have pretty much told you all you need to know.
I personally love Ruth Ann Nordin's books. I've read a lot of negative reviews for her books, but I ignore them and thoroughly enjoy her books. Unfortunately, this one fell a little flat. It could have been a more rounded out book. There were time periods that were skipped. It would jump two weeks, a month. So it made you wonder how Penelope and Cold could have fallen in love without saying anything to each other.
Also, for those who have read Restoring Hope, Ruth Ann's Native American book, you will recognize Penelope, after of course, she brings Martha (Woape) home.
