Missouri Territory, 1819. Nicolas Hansen finds a battered unconscious woman on his land and takes her back to his estate to try and save her life. When the woman awakens she discovers she doesn't know who or where she is. That's when she meets to formidable Nicolas in all his sullen Norse glory. He's hardened his heart to everyone except his best friend Rickard and his two employees Addie and John. Nicolas doesn't even let his 5 year old son Stefan in. Slowly, "Sydney" starts to get under his skin. There's too many questions left unanswered. Is she married? Was her accident an accident or something more sinister? Sydney starts to fall in love with the stoic Nicolas and shows him how to let love in.
This is a wonderful book. I couldn't put it down. It captured my attention from the first paragraph to the last. I fell in love with Nicolas and was charmed by Rickard. Sydney is the kind of woman I like to read about. She's not a pushover but is also willing to concede the point. She's not overly stubborn like some romance novel heroines.
There is a sequel to this series called A Prince of Norway. I have started it so it will be reviewed on here tomorrow. So far it's as captivating as A Woman of Choice.
